The Princess of the Royal family of Pataudi and the baby sister of Saif Ali Khan tied the knot on January 25 with her dapper looking fiancé and bestfriend Kunal Khemu, Bollywood actor, who shot to fame with his role in 2005 Mukesh Bhatt hit Kalyug.
The beautiful princess of the nawabi gharana, Soha Ali Khan, tied the knot in an intimate ceremony that took place at Khans’ Mumbai residence. Strictly a family only affair; Mr. & Mrs. Khemu were spotted waving to the crowd with the bride’s immediate kin after the exchange of their marital vows.
Despite the couple’s intention to keep their wedding an intimate affair, it grabbed a lot of attention from media. And why wouldn’t it? After all, this much-awaited wedding belonged to the Nawabs of the film industry. So, for all the fans and well-wishers, let us unravel the entire details of Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Khemu’s wedding..
How the Love Blossomed…?
The couple first met on the sets of the movie, Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge. However, their initial reaction to each other was more of indifference than even a simple friendship. The vibes did not match initially but the destiny had something else in store for the duo and the two were in love in no time. Soon the romance culminated into a strong live in relationship that eventually converted to the Wedding Vows getting exchanged.
It was not until 2014 that Kunal popped the question and when he did, he made sure that no stone was left unturned. The proposal was made in the heart of the city of Romance – Paris with the ring being so graceful that Soha could not help but tweet – “….the most perfect ring in the world…”
The wedding invite
The Wedding Invitation was a simple card strewn with red roses, wrapped in golden bow with the couple’s name etched in heart shaped wreath. The date of the coming together of these two love birds was proudly proclaimed. The design of the invite spoke volumes about the immortal love for each other that they have.
THE WEDDING CELEBRATIONS
Any Indian wedding, celebrity or not is not complete without the rituals of mehendi. Although the wedding of the Bollywood couple was a strict-private affair, the celebrations included everything that forms part of any big fat Indian wedding. The pre-wedding functions included the bachelorette party and mehendi ceremony, whereas a star-studded reception concluded the entire celebrations.
The Bachelorette Party
The buddies of Soha threw a grand bachelorette party for her on the evening of 22nd January presenting her with a jewel-studded tiara and a sash with ‘bride-to-be’ written over it, was also given to the pretty lady announcing that she was finally taken. Looking resplendent in a gold bronze gown with a sequined neckline, was Soha. Some of the close friends who were a part of the party included the actresses Neha Dhupia, Konkona Sen Sharma and Sandhya Mridul.
The Mehendi Ceremony
The Pataudi princess was seen in a pink and gold ensemble Ritu Kumar kurta at her homely Mehendi ceremony. The minimal makeup and jewellery added to the bride’s glow and radiance.
Soha’s sister-in-law, Kareena Kapoor Khan, stuck to a printed cotton suit teamed up with a pair of earrings, a red bindi and smouldering eyes.
Other guests to be spotted at the mehendi ceremony were Neha Dhupia, Konkona Sen Sharma and Salman Khan’s sister, Arpita Khan Sharma.
The wedding day
The wedding took p[lace at their khar residence in asimple and private ceremony during which only a registrar along with the family members was present. The 36 – year old princess of Pataudi looked splendid in an off-white lehenga teamed up with an orange dupatta. The traditional maang tikka of a Muslim bride, passa, completed her look. On the other hand, the 31-year old actor looked stately in a white and gold sherwani and a silk safa.
Talking about Soha’s family, everyone was dressed up just perfectly to suit their royal stature. Kareena Kapoor Khan looked stunning in a pink and white saree teamed up with a striking neckpiece and nude makeup. And, Saif Ali Khan sported a simple white achkan paired with a pink turban, complementing Kareena’s dress perfectly.
After the sober yet elegant wedding ceremony it was th reception ceremony that saw the top notch of Bollywood coming to bless the newly weds. . Soha looked every bit like a royal bride in a hot pink and gold lehenga designed by Sanjay Garg, while the handsome groom donned a simple kurtaand white trousers with a bandhgala jacket. He made sure to match up with his bride’s attire by carrying a hot pink pocket square.
Saif Ali Khan exuded every inch of his blue-blooded persona in a white bandhgala and a rose pink turban. Sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor Khan dazzled in a lotus hued Manish Malhotra saree, while the bride’s mother and the evergreen actress – Sharmila Tagore opted for a cream and gold traditional Assamese chador.
The do was attended by various celebrities from the world of Bollywood, cricket and fashion. Some of the notable ones included Malaika Arora Khan, Karan Johar, Konkana Sen, Yuvraj Singh, Sophie Choudry, Karisma Kapoor, Arpita Khan Sharma and Saif’s son Ibrahim.
Going with Honey on Moon…
Work is worship and so believe the duo, they are in no rush to head for honeymoon right now. They are keen on finishing their projects on hand and Soha also will start shooting for Ghayal 2 in February.
It is Soha, who always planned vacation itineraries for the couple so far, was quick to point out, “No honeymoon right now. We will plan something fun when the weather in Europe is better, perhaps in summer,” she says.
